Accordion-O-Rama has been around since 2004 when Dan Newton, a.k.a. Daddy Squeeze organized the first event at Crossings. According to a 2010 MinnPost article by Pamela Espeland, "the idea was to hold a miniature accordion festival, showcasing different musicians and musical styles, in a town where people were likely to show up, a stronghold of Polish and German heritage and polka." There continues to be cookies at the intermission.

This year’s performers are Dan Newton, Dee Langley, and Dallas Vietty.

Award-winning accordionist and educator Dallas Vietty is one of the most in-demand young accordionists performing jazz and swing in the United States today. Dallas’ unique style comes from his background in the American jazz tradition, as well as deep study and immersion in the European swing tradition of Django Reinhardt (Gypsy Jazz) and the French musette and jazz accordionists. As band leader of three groups (Hot Bijouxx, Musette Project, Tempus Fugit) Dallas remains very active on the East Coast concert and festival scene. His groups have performed at some of the top U.S. festivals: Djangology NYC, TEDx Philly, Djangoary Festival, to name a few. As a sideman his performances have taken him to legendary venues such as The Iridium Jazz Club NYC, BB King’s Time Square, The Highline Ballroom NYC, and the Philadelphia Kimmel Center Verizon Hall.

Dee Langley specializes in both solo and ensemble work on the accordion and have been fortunate enough to perform with the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Ancia Quartet, Minnesota Sinfonia, Minneapolis Philharmonic and Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a past president of Accordionists and Teachers Guild, International and now enjoys being the President of the Mill City Accordion Association as well as event coordinator for the NE Accordion Festival. Dee lives in NE Minneapolis and am a faculty member of Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) teaching accordion. She won the 2011-2012 McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians and the 2012 Minnesota Emerging Composer’s Award from the American Composer’s Forum (Orkestar Bez Ime, World Music).

Dan "Daddy Squeeze" Newton has been dazzling audiences with his creative accordion style for over 30 years. His fresh approach to the much-maligned squeezebox and his mind-boggling repertoire of both original and traditional material will change the mind of the most hardened accordion skeptic. Dan draws influences for songs and tunes from such sources as French Musette, Gypsy Swing, Cajun, Jug band, Tex-Mex and Cumbia. He calls this global gumbo "ethnoclectic" music. Daddy Squeeze entertains and also enlightens his audiences with stories and colorful anecdotes about the accordion and his experiences while making a living playing the instrument he loves.
