Beginning/Intermediate Pottery Wheel
with Polly Noll

About three years ago, I enrolled two of my kids in a Beginning Wheel class at Crossing's, so I could tag along.

Neither of those kids really enjoy throwing on the wheel, but I have been hooked ever since.  I may not have learned much in that first class, but it was a slippery slope to another beginning class, a surface treatment class and an intermediate throwing class.

Somewhere in between the classes at Crossing's, I purchased a small portable pottery wheel to use at home, so my hands could spend as much time as possible in the clay - if only moments between kids, and house, and work...

Pottery is a medium where you can try anything with nothing to lose!

I can see something on a video or in a catalogue and try it, or change it, or scrap the whole thing- and start with something new.

I have been throwing on the wheel for three years. With a great baseline from the Beginning and Intermediate Classes - it's what I need to keep experimenting and learning. Not to mention, how this process allows me to escape and center a bit of my creative soul.

Want to learn the art of making functional pottery on the potter’s wheel? Pottery Wheel Instructor Polly Noll will teach participants to center on the wheel, shape and trim pots, and more. The classes are suitable for beginners as well as for advanced beginners, those who have some experience with throwing pots and want more time with an instructor. This five week class is on Mondays, October 12 - November 14 from 6:30-9pm.

These classes have a maximum of 6 students, ensuring plenty of student to teacher contact time, making them ideal if you have little or no experience with clay and want to test your interest. Get your hands wet and enjoy the process. Wear old clothes and get ready to work the wheel. Tool kits are available through Crossings. Supply fee includes one bag of clay (25 pounds), all glazing materials, and use of studio tools.

Price is $125, with $18 supplies and $3 per piece for firing.

Please remember - if you are not feeling well, have a fever or have been exposed to someone ill; please stay home. For the safety of everyone, the instructor will wear a mask and you are encouraged to do the same.
