Coffee & Enamel Minnesota Charms with Amy Johnson

Amy Johnson, an enamel artist from Rochester, Minnesota, blends together metal, fire, and glass to give life and color to her jewelry. She also melds metal to fashion beautiful sterling silver spinner rings, copper bracelets, necklaces, and earrings; each piece has a personality of its own. Some of her work is intricate and alluring, while other pieces resemble a whirlwind of color and light. Amy’s enchanting artwork allows the wearer to embark on a journey of whimsy and laughter.

Are you from the land of many lakes? Has the state of Minnesota just stole your heart? Are you Minnesota nice? Show your Minnesota pride by designing and wearing your own one-of-a kind Minnesota pendant.  Class meets at 9-11am on Saturday, March 31. Coffee will be provided, but bring your own if you like the fancy drinks.

You will start out with a one inch state of Minnesota shaped copper blank.   You will add color and design to your copper blank with the use of a large variety of enameled powders and various stencils. In this class you will learn basic enameling skills. You will learn how to properly clean your copper and prepare it for the enameling process.  You will also learn how to sift powdered glass onto copper. Then with repeated firings you will heat and melt the powdered glass by the use of a Mapp gas torch.  Your finished pendant will hang from a 18 inch ball chain that you have patinated, polished and sealed. Come to this class and learn the art of enameling and take home a one-of-a kind Minnesota enameled pendant made by you.  

Students should wear closed toe shoes, natural fiber clothing and have their hair tied back.

Price is $45 plus $10 supplies.
